Hunter Valley Wine Tours in Autumn

Yesterday I had the great pleasure of hosting widely travelled wine lovers Chuck & Judy from Phillidelphia & Dr. Robert from the UK on a private Hunter Valley Wine Tour.

Here are Robert & Chuck & Judy in one of the Hunter Valley's most significant vineyards in Autumn - Shiraz vines planted on their own rootstocks in 1879.

They were amazed how compact these old vines are.

Chuck got down & dirty with this 134 year old Shiraz vine.

If you were 134 year old, you would be gnarled too!

Here is a random bunch of unripe Shiraz grapes, 2 months after the vines were harvested. They are the result of flowers that set 2 months later than the rest. They tasted 'nasty'!

Chuck & Judy & Robert inspecting the vibrant colour of a Hilltops region (Young) grown Cabernet Sauvignon - with a far more elegant style than hotter areas can produce.

Judy caught up with the owner & chef of the Muse Restaurant, Troy-Rhoades Brown, as he was taking in to his kitchen some of his own garden's fresh herbs.
